What are the types
of safety valve?

Spring loaded direct acting valves

It is the most widespread system. With a spring mechanism we achieve that the overpressures of the system act directly in the valve closing system, releasing the pressure according to the characteristics of the actuation spring. It is a simple, reliable and generally inexpensive system.

Pilot valves

Indirect action system that makes the valve react to overpressures through a secondary bypass that detects pressure.
The reaction is slower and more progressive, so it is indicated for those systems with large water hammer.

Correct handling and installation in a safety valve are key to avoid device malfunction

Clean the inlet and outlet connections to avoid impurities that could damage the closing system.
Avoid components that cause pressure drops (shut-off valves, pipe extensions, etc.) between the system / equipment and the safety valve
The diameter of the connection must be at least the same as the valve inlet.
Always install in a vertical position.
The discharge generates back pressures that must be taken into account when selecting the correct valve size and model.
Do not use gaskets that give off residue.
In steam lines, never install the valve below the level of the pipeline.

valve and a relief valve?
